Sunday 9-9 Carlsbad

Sunday Sept 9th:  First let's sing Happy Birthday to Gretchen's favorite brother, Al, since today is his birthday.   Happy birthday to you.....happy birthday to you...happy birthday dear Al.....happy birthday to you!!!!  Love ya.

On the road here, Roger says that he isn't interested in any caves.  Gretchen agrees.  So where did we spend the day?  At the Carlsbad Caverns!  One of the largest and most spectacular cave systems in the world.  Fantastic and grotesque formations fascinated us from frozen waterfalls to strands of pearls, from soda straws to miniature castles, from draperies to ice-cream cones.  It was quite a site.

We then found the Carlsbad American Legion Post #7 for Roger's plate exchange from North Dakota.  This has to be the most friendliest post that we have visited and it was our pleasure to be their guests.  Only wish we could be there for their Monday dinner that we were invited to.  However, we are off to Roswell.

Checked into a Good Sam in Roswell and we think the aliens were here since this is an awful campground.  All gravel so we aren't certain how the Blue can go to the bathroom!  Pool is closed, no one in the office, sites extremely close to one another, and no fire pits.  More rules:  don't move the picnic tables and don't put grills on those picnic tables.  Get us out of here!   Area 51 tomorrow.
