Sunday, Sept 2nd onto San Leon

Sunday, Sept 2nd:  We left Arlington and drove 300 miles that took 6 hours.  This trip was a special "run" to San Leon for Roger and Bill can eat oysters at Gilhooley's in San Leon, Texas.  We are between Houston and Galveston.  And eat they did............................Roger had two dozens and Bill had his two dozens.  Gretchen, a non-oyster eater, had delicious shrimp on a stick with Hawaiin sauce.  Picture these two guys digging into the oysters.  They couldn't eat them fast enough!

Gilhooley's is a no-children place that looks like a dive.  Don't be fooled by the looks.  Friendly service and the food was the greatest as you can tell by the pictures of the oysters.  So the plan is to go there again tomorrow after we go to Galveston.

Garlic bread:  Roger thought that his garlic bread needed more garlic so the waitress brought out melted garlic butter and he poured it onto his bread.  Doesn't sound too gross unless you were there.  It was dripping with cholestrol!!!!!!!!!!!  And on top of the cholestrol loaded oysters!!  So what did we do?  Got back to the campsite and drained 5 bottles of great red wine.  The thought behind this was we felt the wine would offset the cholestrol loaded dinner we just had.  Anyone agree?

Pictures:  Wine cannot be served in the bottle (Texas's crazy liquor laws) but in a plastic cup.  It was very good in spite of.

Picture:  campsite.  notice Bill's Little Guy camper behind ours.

Picture:  morning after renmants of the night before!  Wine, candles, beer, Blue's poop bag (not filled!) zippo lighter fluid, bug spray, and cigars.  Hey, where did the coffee come from?
